In 2016, Alumni Philodemica's Board of Advisors reached out to Georgetown University's Office of Advancement to discuss the possibility of establishing an endowment for the Philodemic Society, in the hope of securing its financial future. The result of that work is The Philodemic Society Endowed Fund, which is a permanent part of Georgetown University’s endowment that is for the sole benefit of the Philodemic Society.

We have pledged to raise $100,000 for the Philodemic Society by June 2030. Until that goal is raised, the Society cannot access the donations they receive. Indeed, unless we fully raise our goal of $100,000, the University can keep and distribute the funds pledged to the Philodemic Society, without them seeing a dime.

 

Contributions to the Philodemic Society Endowed Fund will support the long term success of the Philodemic Society and will alleviate much of the financial uncertainty that the Society has from time to time faced. Donations to the endowment work just like a normal donation to Georgetown University—and they are tax exempt.
